Local Partnerships

Strengthening Resilience Together

Humedica International Lanka (HIL) believes lasting change is only possible through strong local partnerships. By working alongside government institutions, the private sector, and trusted community organizations, we ensure our programs are locally recognized, aligned with national priorities, and designed to strengthen existing systems rather than replace them.

Working with Government Stakeholders

HIL collaborates with key government actors to improve preparedness, expand opportunity, and strengthen resilience at community level. In early 2025, our Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) work was reinforced through an intensive training session led by Mr. Sugath Dissanayake, former Director of the Disaster Management Centre (DMC), supporting stronger readiness and safer response practices.

HIL’s economic empowerment efforts have also gained formal recognition. In Yatiyanthota, the women’s sewing and skills development program was acknowledged by the Government Agent of the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, helping connect trainees with local apparel companies and enabling a commercial order of 300 blouses. This partnership turned training into real income and long-term opportunity.

Corporate Partnerships for Preparedness and Safety

HIL works with the private sector to build safer workplaces and stronger communities. Through collaboration with the Hayleys Group, HIL staff and international volunteers delivered first responder training to employees at the Horana plant, equipping staff with practical life-saving skills and strengthening a culture of preparedness.

Community and Institutional Partnerships

HIL delivers community-centered services through institutions that already serve and understand local needs. In Colombo, we partner with Samata Sarana, a trusted sanctuary supporting the elderly and disadvantaged children, where HIL provides medical support, health screenings, and prevention education for underserved groups.

In Uva Province, HIL works closely with Samanala Piyasa and Suwadiwi Piyasa to address mental health stigma through a model that blends psychosocial support with recreational activities and skills development, helping individuals rebuild confidence, purpose, and inclusion.

HIL also collaborates with academic institutions and local NGOs to strengthen education, capacity building, and evidence-informed programming. Through the GROW model, learning and empowerment initiatives reach children and youth across schools, preschools, prisons, and community centers. Partnerships with organizations such as the Health Lanka Alliance and the Zonta Club of Colombo have further supported coordinated responses to displacement and social challenges, including assistance to families affected by Cyclone Ditwa.
